Welcome to Bike Northland

Bike Northland is the regional body for cycling in Northland and is working to make Northland a great place to ride your bike.

Established in 2007, Bike Northland brought together existing mountain biking, BMX, and road cycling clubs. Its aim was to promote cycling throughout Northland with just one organisation. Bike Northland was created after a club approached Sport Northland for advice on how to develop what it was doing. Sport Northland’s solution was to bring the region’s cycle clubs together to work co-operatively on mutual problems.

It has now grown into an organisation with a much broader focus than just cycle sport. Currently its work is based on making the environment in Northland for all cyclists safer and making cycling an attractive transport choice. It is currently working to implement a "Bikes in Schools" programme in Northland, that was developed by Paul Mcardle in Hastings. This is aimed at giving primary school age children the ability to ride a bike in their school on a regular basis and realise the benefits from this.

Our aim is to address the challenges that all aspects of cycling face and to provide a common voice to promote and drive cycling across the Northland region.

Marsden Wheelers Social Evening 7:00 pm

Narnia Cafe

When: Friday 4th September
Where: Narnia Cafe
Time: 7pm-9pm

We are having a bit of a get together to meet new members, see others in something other than cycle kit, and to hear a bit about The Tour of New Zealand - South Island Stage from Bob and Mike who competed in this earlier in the year in some extremely tough conditions.
We also Have Grant telling us a little about his South Island tour by bike, training he did, gear to take (as it had to be carried all on the bike) and some of the conditions and issued he faced.
So please come along and bring your wallet for a coffee, drink, and some delicious Narnia food or a light meal. Its a good chance to talk to others in the club about their riding and maybe get a few tips from other riders around you.
Hope to see you all there.
